ERA LGBTI – Equal Rights Association for Western Balkans and Turkey is the regional umbrella association advocating for the rights of LGBTI people in the Western Balkans and Turkey. Our work spans a wide array of activities, including policy advocacy, capacity building, and public campaigning aimed at fostering inclusivity and equality.
We are currently looking for a Communications and PR Officer who is passionate about LGBTI rights and social justice, motivated to support our mission by creating and managing impactful communications that strengthen our advocacy and visibility.
About the Role:
The Communications and PR Officer will be person in charge of ERA’s communications efforts, working closely with our team to design, implement, and oversee strategic communications across multiple channels. This role requires a candidate with creativity, initiative, and a strong sense of purpose to amplify LGBTI rights and issues across the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Content Creation & Graphic Design: Develop engaging, informative, and visually compelling content for various media platforms, including social media, infographics, and reports. Write and edit engaging content, including blog posts, newsletters, reports, and website updates.
- Social Media Management & Marketing: Manage and grow ERA’s social media presence across key platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.), ensuring consistency, high engagement, and alignment with ERA’s advocacy goals.
- Public Relations & Media Engagement: Act as the primary contact for media inquiries, draft press releases, and foster relationships with local, regional, and international media outlets to enhance ERA’s visibility.
- Campaign Coordination: Collaborate on the design and execution of impactful advocacy and awareness-raising campaigns, leveraging digital tools to engage communities and policymakers.
- Digital Activism: Support ERA’s digital advocacy efforts, with a focus on advancing LGBTI rights across the Western Balkans and Turkey through online campaigns and media strategies.
About You:
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong graphic design skills and experience with design software (Adobe Suite, Canva, etc.).
- Demonstrated experience in social media management, including content creation, strategy, and analytics.
- Knowledge of PR strategies and media engagement, with experience drafting press releases and managing media relations.
- A deep understanding of digital activism, particularly in human rights or LGBTI advocacy.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with a proven ability to communicate complex issues clearly and compellingly.
- Fluency in English, with additional language skills from the Western Balkans or Turkey region being a plus.
- Passion for LGBTI rights and commitment to social justice.
