In collaboration with the UN Human Rights team in Serbia and United Nations Free & Equal, ERA organised on 18 April 2019 a Regional webinar on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Agenda 2030, bringing SDGs closer to our members and focusing on how to connect LGBTI topics and issues faced by LGBTI communities in the Western Balkans and Turkey to SDGs.
The webinar was conceived as a basic training for ERA members from the entire region not endowed with prior knowledge and experience in the area, with particular emphasis on the position of LGBTI persons, role of civil society organizations concerned with the subject matter, and the all-important principle of leaving no one behind. We analyzed access to education, healthcare, social care and justice, as well as combating discrimination and prejudices, responding to inequalities and legal and policy gaps and the practical application of SDGs, connecting goals and targets with real-life challenges faced by members of the LGBTI community in the region.
