LGBTI Equal Rights Association for Western Balkans and Turkey
Kristian Ranđelović, is a longtime intersex and trans activist, based in Belgrade, Serbia. Kristian has been a member of the ERA Steering Board since 2015, and this is his second term. Currently he is the executive director of XY Spectrum, that focuses on improving the position of trans and intersex persons in Serbia. His main areas of work include capacity building for trans and intersex individuals/organizations and psychological counseling for LGBTI individuals.
In addition to his work within XY Spectrum, Kristian has also been working for Gayten-LGBT since 2006, where he has been systematically developing programs for trans individuals, including the first trans support group in the Balkans. He has also contributed to the creation of trans programs in the region of former Yugoslavia and he participated in the creation of the first trans website in the same region (www.transserbia.org). Throughout this working period he appeared in various media, sharing his experiences and issues faced by intersex and trans persons.
In 2017 Kristian was also in charge of the regional intersex research, initiated by UNDP, and has produced an overview of the position of intersex persons in Serbia, Macedonia, Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina. As an activist, Kristian served as a member of the Executive Board of ILGA Europe (2010-2012), member of the Steering Committee of Transgender Europe (2010-2016), and a member of the Steering Board of the newly founded organization OII Europe (2015-2017).
