Macedonian organization LGBT United Tetovo kicked off its most recent campaign under the slogan “We vote too”. Aimed at LGBTI voters in the cities of Gostivar and Tetovo – in west Macedonia – it aims to remind LGBTI people of the power of their vote and the importance of political parties including LGBTI issues in their programs. Information stands will be placed in the two cities and flyers will be distributed to citizens. This is part of the organization’s efforts for more visibility and direct engagement with the public and the community. LGBTI people and members of the organization will be there too.
The initiative is part of the project “Inclusion of LGBTI issues in political party programs” and it is mainly targeted at Albanian political parties.
According to Bekim Asani, President of LGBTI United Tetovo, “the main aim of the campaign is to raise awareness among LGBTI people in Macedonia about the importance of their vote while at the same time ask Albanian political parties not to ignore LGBTI rights.
