The third Pride rally for LGBTIQ people “Montenegro Pride” will be held on Sunday, 13 December in Podgorica, decided the Organising Board of this central annual event that raises the visibility of LGBTIQ people in Montenegro, as it was announced by our member organisation Queer Montenegro.
The Organising Board of Montenegro Pride has decided on the change of the route of the Pride rally, which is different than the one used during the preivous two years. It is important for the Organising Board that the route is in the centre of Podgorica, and it will be determined in consultation with the police authorities of Montenegro, the statement from Queer Montenegro says.
“We believe that the conditions for a peaceful organising of the third Montenegro Pride have been provided, and thus, on Sunday, 13 December, together with the citizens of Montenegro, our friends, members of our families, and the supporters of our fundamental human rights will be able to peacefully march on the streets of Podgorica for every Montenegrin city/town in which we cannot yet do that for every LGBTIQ person in Montenegro that is forced to live their own life in secrecy and fear” – the announcement of Queer Montenegro says.
The peaceful gathering of LGBTIQ people was initially planned for October, however, due to the complex political situation in Montenegrin society, the Pride rally “Montenegro Pride” was delayed for December.
