Athens, 31 October 2015
Earlier this morning, Dragana Todorović, the executive co-director of ERA – LGBTI Equal Rights Association for Western Balkans and Turkey, was elected as a member of the Executive Board of ILGA Europe 2015-2017.
With 107 votes in total, Dragana got the highest number of votes for a member of the ILGA Europe Executive Board who self-identifies as a woman. The other members of the Executive Board of ILGA Europe elected were: Darienne Flemington, Micah Grzywnowicz, Vladimir Simonko and Yuri Guaiana.
“I am so grateful I got elected as a member of the ILGA Europe Executive Board, and I am overwhelmed of all the positive reactions and the tons of support I got in doing so! This is a recognition and acknowledgement of all the arduous efforts and hard work I have done throughout the years, and it also boosts my motivation in articulating the pressing LGBTI needs and issues from our region to a broader and more extensive platform. As a executive director of ERA – LGBTI Equal Rights Association for Western Balkans and Turkey, I will make sure that there is a great deal of exchange of information, ideas, and fruitful cooperation taking place between ERA and ILGA Europe, thus, ensuring more room for improvement of the position of the LGBTI people in Western Balkans and Turkey.” – said Dragana right after the official annoucement of the elected members.
The ILGA Europe Executive Board is the governing body of ILGA Europe, whose members are elected every year by the Annual Conference with a term of two years.
